About the Event
We will explore the dual solo exhibitions by the Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli and the Israeli artist Shay Frisch. Both artists have discovered unique ways to re-interpret the familiar into striking monumentality. In Vizzoli’s “Divas,” the artist meshes his experiences as a filmmaker and an artist by literally stitching the portraits of cinematic icons as his own canvas of artistic expression. Likewise, Frisch literally lights upon the object of daily usage to create light sculptures that seem to defy gravity like a halo.
This private museum talk, only open to SEA members, is organized by Julie Chun (Art Historian and Critic) and will be joined by guest speaker Angela Ren, Associate Curator of the Modern Art Museum.
(Optional lunch at the museum café prior to the talk from 12:00 PM to 1:20 PM will be available at your own cost.)
