About the Event
Located in the suburbs of Suzhou, Six Arts is a unique museum that embodies the handicraft spirit of China’s wood carvers.
Immense in scale and collection, the museum was founded by an American lawyer who arrived in China in the early era of the Economic Opening Up Policy. By gathering and acquiring the objects that were being relentlessly tossed and thrown away, he amassed one of the largest compilations of Chinese wooden objects, from simple wash buckets to enormous wall panels.
Join Art Historian Julie Chun in this rare journey to uncover a vibrant historical period that continues to have resonating economic and social effects to this day.
