About the Event

Ikebana, Japan’s traditional floral art, originated in the sixth century with the arrival of Buddhism. Over the centuries, the Japanese developed a disciplined and distinctive style, evolving from its original floral offerings into a refined decorative art. 

This class provides a basic introduction to the history, styles, general theory, and practice of Ikebana. 

 

Please bring: 

  1. A wide-mouth container/vase (approximately 2 inches high x 12–16 inches deep) 

  2. Floral scissors
